This daily correspondence between schools she attended and us gives you a glimpse of our daily life. Most parents of typical children do not communicate on daily basis with the teachers. This gives a reader an insight to how important daily communication is for a child with autism.

Kat has attended school since she was 3 years old. These are school notes that were result of correspondence with her parents and her teachers. We have made comments at a later date reflecting back on the impact of these events. Kats School Notes Index

Hello!

Kat was in art with Melissa when I came in. She did a great job shading! She only needed a few prompts to correct herself.

Next, we went to Mrs. R.'s Kat began working on a sequence of events paragraph. She neede a lot of prompts. Then, she had reading with Mrs. R. They played "definition" memory. We had to decrease the number of cards because she was having trouble attending to it. Kat played with a classmate and they play for money so that it would be more rewarding. Her classmate won the first two games and we had Kat hand her the money. I prompted Kat a lot so that she could win the last game. This seems to just turn over cards even though she knows where the words are when you ask her. I had her tell me the definition or word maker before she turned over a second card.

Now Kat is listening to a story about the Lenape Indians of New Jersey for social studies. Melissa and I want to see how much she will comprehend. I had Kat write in her journal before lunch. She wrote that the story was about Indians. Pretty good.

After lunch, she practiced her cursive writing. Then, she wrote in her journal. I prompted more detailed sentences to see if her conversation will be more detailed later.

Kat played quizmo in math. Unfortunately, they didn't get to finish. She played it independently.

Next, we went to enrichment. The topic was skyscrapers. they made buildings with marshmallows and toothpicks. Kat can bring it home tomorrow.
